Tropical storm Harvey could strengthen into hurricane
Forecasters at the US National Hurricane Center are warning about heavy rainfall late today and early tomorrow as Tropical Storm Harvey lands.
"We may be measuring rainfall in feet rather than inches," said NHC forecaster Dennis Feltgen. "This is a potentially life threatening flooding situation."
The storm is expected to land at around 2 am local time on Friday in an area littered with oil refineries.
A disruption is already likely priced into the oil and gasoline market but an unforeseen trouble is an upside risk for oil prices. WTI crude is down $0.43 to $52.12 on Thursday.
