LONDON (MNI) – House price inflation picked up in September, but is
still running at very subdued levels, according to Land Registry data.
House prices in England and Wales were up 1.1% on the year in
September and down 0.3% on the month, according to Land Registry. The
yearly inflation rate was up from 0.7% in August.
The Land Registry figures are based on completed deals and include
cash transactions and have tended to show inflation running higher than
it has in the mortgage based surveys.
Of the mortgage based surveys, the September Nationwide one showed
house prices down 1.4% on a year ago and Halifax showed them down
1.2%.
