UK August public sector borrowing data released a short while ago 21 Sept
- PSNBR GBP 5.1bln vs 6.4bln exp vs -1.3bln prev revised down from -0.8bln
- PSNBR ex banking groups £5.7bln vs 7.1bln exp vs -0.7bln prev revised down from -0.2bln
The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) forecast that public sector net borrowing (excluding public sector banks) would be £51.7 billion during the financial year ending March 2017 and will be £58.3 billion during the financial year ending March 2018.
Says the ONS:
- borrowing in financial YTD 28.3B, 200M lower than year-ago
- August saw a small fall in Corporation tax
- estimates indicate full financial year ending March 2017 public sector borrowed 45.6B (2.3% of GDP)
- self-assessment receipts over last two-months at 9.4B (July & August) an all time high
- August 2017 borrowing 5.7B; 1.3B lower than in August 2016
