UK mortgage approvals for house purchase have come in at 38,181 for July, up from 35,564 in June and very marginally better than the median forecast of 37,800.
However, UK net mortgage lending came in at +£1.6 bln in July, down from +£2.2 bln in June, the smallest rise since October 2000.
