That's what people tend to say when there's nothing else to comment on
- Talks with Labour have found some common ground
- But there are still Brexit differences between Labour and Tories
- Both sides are working in a positive manner to find a way forward
Talks between the government and the Labour party look set to continue later today but don't be misled by the headline. As it stands, any breakthrough to resolve the Brexit impasse isn't imminent as it would require either of the two parties to move their original red lines.
If anything, it would be the government having to compromise on a customs union but that would in essence divide the Tory party even further than what it already is currently. With May set to visit Merkel and Macron later, it's hard to imagine a Brexit compromise being achieved in the UK today.
