Highlights of the August US advance retail sales report:
- Advance retail sales 0.6% vs 0.6% expected
- Prior reading was 0.0% (revised to +0.3%
- Control group +0.4% vs +0.5% exp
- Prior control group +0.1% (revised to +0.4%)
- Ex-autos 0.3%, as expected
- Prior ex-autos +0.1% (revised to +0.3%)
Sales were soft in the initial July report but the revisions were all higher. With that, the in-line numbers look a bit better this month.
