US DATA: April TICS data show net foreign purchases of US long-term
securities at a very modest $30.6 bn with foreign inflows of $44.8 bn
offset by US resident outflows of $14.2 bn. Within the foreign
purchases, private investors bought $18.6 bn while official institutions
bought $26.2 bn, mostly in Tsys.
Monthly net TIC flows were $68.2 bn.
Monthly Tsy flows by country show China +$7.6 bn, Japan -$1.0 bn, UK
+$8.0 bn, OPEC -$0.8 bn, Carib. -$16.7 bn, Canada -$5.6 bn.
