US DATA: Initial jobless claims -23k to 452k in Oct 16 holiday and
employment survey wk, following a sharp upward revision in the prev week
to 475k from originlly reported 462k. The Oct 16 wk claims level was
slightly below the 455k level expected and -17k from the 469,000 level
in the September 18 survey week. Only the Virgin Islands were estimated.
The Labor Dept analyst said seasonal factors expected an 11.1% drop, or
about 51,000, in unadjusted claims after the sharp run up in the
previous week. Actual NSA claims -15.4%, or -71,303 to 391,737. 4-wk
moving avg -4,250 to 458,000. Continuing claims -9k to 4.441 mln in Oct
9 wk, lowest since the June 26 wk.
