US DATA: May retail sales -0.2%, ex-mtr veh +0.3%, slightly better
than expected (-0.4%, +0.2%) but following downward revisions to the
previous two months. This was the first drop in total sales since June
2010. Mtr veh sales -2.9%, gasoline station sales +0.3%, while the
remaining categories +0.3% combined. Sales rose for building materials,
health care stores, clothing stores, and food services places. These
were offset by declines at food stores, for furniture, electronics,
sporting goods, and at department stores.
