Stocks close lower on November 15, 2017
The major US stock indices are ending the session lower. The major indices were lower on the opening and never traded in the black during the session.
- The S&P index fell 14.19 points or -0.55% at 2564.66. The high reached 2572.84. The low extended to 2557.45
- The NASDAQ composite index fell -31.66 points or -0.47% at 6706.20. The high reached 6725.32. The low extended to 6667.30
- The Dow industrial average fell 138.19 points or -0.59% at 23271.28. The high reached 22334.99. The low extended to 23242.75.
The market tried to recover midday but ran out of steam into the US close. The news that Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson was against the GOP tax plan seemed to hurt stocks. The Senate has 2 votes of wiggle room. If he remains a "no" there is only 1 more dissenter allowed. All Democratic Senators are expected to vote against the package.
