–House Speaker Says Tax Cut Vote Will Occur In Final Week Of Summer
–Both House, Senate Are Set To Vote By Next Week on Bush Tax Cuts

WASHINGTON (MNI) – House Speaker John Boehner Monday said the House
will vote next week to extend the Bush-era tax cuts.

In a statement on the House schedule, Boehner said the tax cut vote
will occur next week.

For several months, Boehner has said the House would vote on the
Bush tax cuts prior to Congress’ August recess.

It remains unclear if the House will also vote on President Obama’s
plan to renew only those Bush-era tax cuts for families making $250,000
or less.

The Senate is expected to vote either this week or next week on
both Obama’s tax cut plan and the GOP plan to renew all Bush-era tax
cuts.

At a briefing last Thursday, Boehner said the House is doing all it
can to avert the so-called fiscal cliff and blasted Senate Democrats and
Obama for the uncertainty surrounding the fiscal cliff.

He noted that the House has already voted to replace the scheduled
$110 billion in spending cuts for the 2013 fiscal year that are set to
begin in January with more than $300 billion spending cuts over the
coming decade.

At last week’s briefing, Boehner said the Democratic plan to extend
tax cuts only for those making $250,000 or less would “tank” the
American economy.

Boehner has said a full one year extension of the Bush-era tax cuts
is a necessary step and said Republicans are determined to “lay the
groundwork” for fundamental tax reform next year.
