Not too surprising but anxiety remains

A White House spokesperson when asked if Trump would meet Xi at G20, said it "looks like we are moving in that direction".

Yesterday, Trump said he doesn't have a deadline for imposing extra tariffs on Chinese goods.

Pres. Trump can spew at any time (incluiding on the weekend when the markets are closed). Recall it was over the weekend that Pres. Trump announced he would raise tariffs on $200B of China goods (announced on Sunday May 5th), and after the close last weekend, he announced that the 5% proposed tariffs on Mexican goods would not go into effect on Monday. That increases weekend risk for traders and can cause extra volatility in the markets on Fridays.
