US commerce secretary Wilbur Ross speaks to CNBC
- US tariffs on Chinese goods were carefully thought through
- Tariffs are seen having minimal impact on inflation
- US is trying to give China incentive for constructive, near-term talks
- It is up to China to decide whether or when there will be more dialogue
Ross essentially communicating what Trump would say I believe. Nothing new to add to the current trade rhetoric between the two countries. But if anything, the tariffs introduced today has made trade talks scheduled for 20 September looking rather unlikely at this point.
