German consumer sentiment barely edged higher heading into December, though that is helped by government energy measures for the most part. That said, the reading is still just off the record low set two months back and continues to indicate that consumption activity is in decline. GfK notes that:
"The long-lasting fear of consumers regarding exploding energy prices has currently weakened somewhat, which has a slightly positive effect on the consumer climate."
