US-based employers cut 43,651 jobs in December, making it the second-highest month of job cuts for the year. In the entirety of 2022, employers announced plans to cut 363,824 jobs, up 13% from the 321,970 cuts announced in 2021. That is still the second-lowest recorded yearly total since the statistics were recorded since 1993.
