Major indices snap 2-day losing streak and are closing near their high levels for the session.

NASDAQ leads the way as earnings are awaited

The S&P index and NASDAQ index are closing near their high for the day,and in the process has snapped a 2-day losing streak. The NASDAQ index outpaced the other indices as traders await a plethora of big-name tech and high flying stock earnings later this week including Alphabet, Apple, Amazon and Facebook.

The final numbers are showing:

• S&P index up 23.77 points or 0.74% at 3239.40
• NASDAQ index up 173.09 points or 1.67% at 10536.22
• Dow industrial average up 114.88 points or 0.43% at 26584.72
