Former US Fed chairman Ben Bernanke quoted by Bloomberg
" Much of the appreciation in the US $ may have already happened. We may not see much more"
He'll certainly have a point if the Fed are slow to hike further but there are other forces at work too right now.
On the PBOC:
"One of my concerns is that the PBOC hasn't been as transparent as they usually are"
adding
"If they want to tie the yuan to a currency basket why don't they say that"
On Chinese economic slowdown:
- China has no choice but to shift its growth model
" You can't continue to grow by 10% a year building new dams"
- overall slowdown doesn't look to be so severe to really threaten the global economy at this point"
On Chinese equity market falls:
- correlation between global markets is higher than between global economies
" It's more a financial phenomenon than an economic one"
Bernanke out there still wooing the crowds hungry for every tidbit.
