He didn’t actually say that but said he doesn’t see the conditions for a “deflationary trap” developing and that none of the conditions for deflation are present.
Every day there’s a central banker somewhere saying deflation is a “low risk”. These are the same guys who didn’t see the housing crisis even as markets were collapsing.
Update: Someone at the BOC later clarified to say Poloz was talking about the global situation, not Canada specifically. Whatever, all the central bankers drink from the same cup.
