Australia's tax cuts are in doubt, may not get parliamentary support

The tax cuts promised in the election may be thwarted by parliament.

Nutjob fringe groups oppose the tax cuts. And, when combined with the numbers held by the opposition party, they have the balance in the upper house to frustrate the government (and taxpayers).
