(RTTNews) – The British pound bounced back from previous session’s downtrend against most major currencies during New York mid-day trading on Monday.

After touching new multi-week lows of 0.8649 against the euro and 1.6099 versus the US dollar in earlier trading, the pound reversed its direction and currently trading near 0.8588 and 1.6232, respectively.

Against the Swiss franc, the sterling edged up in today’s New York deals from previous session’s 12-day low of 1.7574.The pound-franc pair that closed last week’s New York session at 1.7749, is now worth 1.7656.

At the same time, the British currency extended European session’s downtrend against the Japanese yen during New York trading today. At 9:30 am ET, the pound dropped to a new multi-week low of 153.09 versus the yen, compared to Friday’s close of 156.76. As of now, the pair is worth 154.31.
