Canada's building permits rose by a greater than expected 6.0% versus November. The number was much higher than the -1.0% expectations
- prior month was revised to 2.1% from 2.6%
- residential permits rose 4.2% versus -2.3% revised last month (was -2.5%)
- nonresidential permits rose 8.9% versus 9.8% revised last month (wqs +11.6%)
- The 6% gain is the highest month increase going back to May 2017
