Host of the upcoming G7 meeting Canadian finance minister Jim Flaherty says he is concerned with China’s currency inflexibility. Expect that to be a major theme coming out of the G7 meeting early next month.

On other topics, Flaherty says he does not believe Canada now has a structural fiscal deficit, Reuters reports.

Update: Flaherty says “it is plain to everyone” that there is downward pressure on the US dollar which has put upward pressure on the CAD.

Flaherty says he has not heard complaints on the location of the G7 summit meeting taking place in the Arctic. (Is he serious? His ears must be frozen…)
