In hopes of staving off a deepening economic slowdown, Canadian PM Harper hopes to begin cranking up government spending soon. He thinks he has an agreement with the opposition Liberal party to include stimulus for the middle class in next week’s budget. Deficits should be short-term in nature, both sides agree, Harper said.
Harper also had warm wisjed for incoming US president Obama, saying he will have no better ally than Canada.
