Martin Wolfe warns that a Greek default will be messy

The FT's Martin Wolfe warns that the yearning for an end to the everlasting saga in Greece might prove to be a mistake.

"The outbreak of the first world war was, we are told, greeted with confidence and jubilation by the peoples of Europe. Something similar seems to be happening after years of economic crisis and political turmoil in Greece. A growing number of people feel that enough is now enough."

He writes that humiliation and Greece and frustration in the Eurozone has reached a boiling point. He warns that an end to chapter, won't be an end to the story.

"Neither the Greeks nor their partners should imagine a clean break. The relationship will continue. It will just be poisonous."
