Greetings one and all

Only one event of note today, Greece ? Nope. Osborne's UK summer Budget speech? Definitely not. FOMC Minutes ? Zzzzzz

Yes, you guessed it. It's rhe start of the Ashes cricket contest between England and Australia which today comes from, er yep, Wales. So just to clarify to those not followers of the gorgeous game it's England and Wales ( and a few South Africans claiming English nationality) vs the Aussies

I shall be camped at Lords next week for the 2nd Test match but meanwhile we await the opening salvo from 10.00 GMT today. The Aussie baggy green caps have prevailed in recent times after some solid English domination prior and are faves to win this time around. I think it will be a lot closer than some imagine but we will have to be at our most aggressive. In any case, bring it on! Follow it all with the Beeb here.

Data wise it's a dud today with the aforementioned FOMC Minutes the highlight at 18.00 GMT but there's the not so small consideration of Greece to keep things ticking over

As always I wish you a good session
