Both new cases and deaths are falling over the last few days
The fall could be related to the long weekend and lesser testing during the period but the fall in the death count is also certainly encouraging. This means that Germany has now posted three straight days of less than 1,000 cases in terms of the daily count.
As for the virus reproduction rate, RKI estimates this to be at 0.74 as of yesterday.
Hence, this should still give the government more confidence to take further steps to ease restrictions and reopen the economy sooner rather than later.
But again, we'll have to see how much of the drop may be related to the weekend break.
