This via Bloomberg overnight on a piece from JPM on the USD

The gist is President Trump could intervene to weaken the US dollar

  • "While not our base case scenario, we cannot rule out a turn toward a more interventionist currency policy, particularly since the current administration has, at times, hinted at a preference for dollar weakness or objected to perceived Chinese currency manipulation,"

At this point I am gonna point you all to this old post:

What if Trump looks at the climbing USD and tweets he wants a managed exchange rate?

  • what If President Trump looks at the falling yuan, the rising USD, and thinks "Wait a minute, the Chinese manage their exchange rate, why can't I?"

So, yeah, its a scenario.More on the JPM piece here at Bloomberg.

And let me repeat (I say this a lot, so its broken record time):

  • Do not underestimate Trump

On this, or anything.
