TOKYO (MNI) – The average price of regular gasoline in Japan this
week stood at Y145.8 ($1.90) per liter, or $7.22 per gallon, down from
Y146.6 last week, posting the sixth straight weekly drop, while
maintaining a rise from a year earlier, data released by the Oil
Information Center showed on Thursday.

The average price this week was up 9.95% from the Y132.6 per liter
price seen a year earlier.

The average price of high-octane gasoline stood at Y156.6 per
liter, down from Y157.4 last week. It hit a record high of Y196.0 on
Aug. 4, 2008.

The average price of diesel fuel stood at Y125.7 per liter this
week, down from Y126.3 last week. That compares with the record high of
Y167.4 recorded on Aug. 4, 2008.

The average over-the-counter price of kerosene for heating stood at
Y1,627 per 18 liters this week, down from Y1,634 last week. It posted a
record high of Y2,378 on Aug. 11, 2008.

The average home-delivery kerosene price this week was at Y1,739
per 18 liters this week, down from Y1,745 in the previous week. It hit a
record high of Y2,484 on Aug. 11, 2008.
