Comments from May's spokesman cited by the FT
The UK government is prepared to pursue changes to the political declaration in order to deliver a deal that's acceptable to both sides, the FT quotes May's spokesman as saying.
With the news that Labour-Conservative talks are on the brink of collapse, it's looking dark for May. The spokesman is trying to walk back that no changes to the political declaration have been offered, you have to wonder if May is even serious or is just angling to blame Labour ahead of an election call.
Talks will continue on the weekend but this is hardly a time for games. The EU is being flexible on an extension, which is good news for GBP, but it's not going to amount to much if/when deal talks fall apart.
