NZ government budget leak - government says it was ‘hacked’

The news that portions of the New Zealand government budget had leaked hit yesterday:

• NZ Government concedes at least some of the 2019 Budget has leaked

A follow up in the Financial Times (may be gated) cites NZ Treasury Secretary:

• "The treasury has gathered sufficient evidence to indicate that its systems have been deliberately and systematically hacked," Makhlouf said in a statement. "The treasury has referred the matter to the police on the advice of the National Cyber Security Centre." He added that no personal information had been subject to hacking.

Grant Robertson, finance minister:

• "Some of it's right, some of it's wrong, you'll see the real budget on Thursday,"
