Special prosecutor visited federal magistrate in Washington

The special prosecutor visited federal magistrate in Washington to return grand jury indictment against 12 Russian intelligence officers.

There are said to be no indictments of US officials

  • intelligence officers hacked into computer networks of Hillary Clinton campaign, Democratic national committee

Deputy US Atty. Gen. Rosenstein is talking now and saying:

  • Russian officers indicted in special counsel probe installed software to spy on users, read emails
  • indicted Russians created fictitious online personas to release stolen information beginning in June 2016
  • Russian intelligence created DCleaks.com
  • Russian intelligence hacked election board, stole information of 500,000 voters
  • Created persona "Guccifer 2.0" that was also acting as a blogger and presented themselves as Romanian hackers to distance themselves from their true identity
  • no allegations American citizen involved in crimes in indictment
  • people who speculate about federal investigations usually do not know all relevant facts, most leaks not from officials conducting investigations
  • Rosenstein says he briefed Pres. Trump on indictments allegations earlier this week, Trump was aware of Friday's announcement
