BERLIN (MNI) – German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on Friday
reaffirmed that the German government’s budget consolidation course will
actually support economic growth.
“Consolidation does not destroy the chances for sustainable growth
but enhances them,” Schaeuble said in a speech in parliament. The German
“federal government is proving that this is possible,” he reckoned.
The minister said the recent sovereign debt crisis had shown that
it was inevitable for all European Union members to bring down their
deficits.
