Think back to students you knew in your secondary or high school days. Remember the really clever ones? What did they go on to study or become? Doctors, scientists, engineers most probably. How many went into banking and finance? Or was it the front-row forward type (ie thug) or the guy selling individual smokes at a 200% mark-up (ie greedy bugger) who ended up in finance. I am guessing that reasonably intelligent folk who ended up in the finance industry by mistake, were soon weeded out by those who prefer to stick with their own sort.

Maybe I’m being a bit harsh but the more I read about the moronic behaviour of financial institutions over the last few years the less unfair this feels. Stupid people, unable to contemplate the consequences of their actions with only their own personal enrichment at heart. And now they are screaming blame in as many directions as possible in order to deflect from themselves.

Is there any way to reverse course to 1993 and start over again?
