Draft of communiqué of 12 trade ministers and EU
A draft communiqué from trade ministers from 12 countries and EU say deeply concerned about rising protectionism.
They add:
- they reaffirm support for WTO's indispensable role in facilitating, safeguarding trade
- Unblocking appointments of WTO appellate judges is urgent need
- WTO negotiating function must be reinvigorated, need to conclude fisheries subsidies negotiations in 2019
- They are concerned with overall level of compliance by WTO members on notification obligations
- Need to strengthen transparency, monitoring of members trade policies
