UK April retail sales report now out 18 May
- -1.4% prev revised up from -1.8%
- core mm 2.0% vs 1.0% exp vs -1.2% prev revised up from -1.5%
- core yy 4.5% vs 2.6% exp vs 2.8% prev revised up from 2.6%
Better than expected and upward revisions with warmer weather being cited as a key factor
I did say the risk was to the upside.
1.3000 pops easily and stops triggered to next tranche of offers around 1.3020 . I reckon it will fall back but key to watch the extent of any second-wave demand between 1.2980-1.3000 if we get there.
Says the ONS
- Underlying sales 3M/3M rose marginally by 0.3%, following recent falL
- Good weather contributed to the better numbers this montH
- Average prices slowed slightly on the month, dropping to 3.1% from 3.3% in MarcH Demand has risen in all sectors except department stores
- Upward revisions to last month's numbers add nothing to Q1 GDP
