US DATA: Initial jobless claims -23k to 381k in Dec 3 wk, well below the
395k level expected and low since the Feb. 26 wk. Claims in the prev wk
rev up to 404k vs 402k originally. Labor analyst said there nothing
unusual in state data, no states estimated. Analyst said seasonals
expected the largest NSA gain of the year, 182k, due to post-holiday and
the start of normal seasonal layoffs. NSA claims actually rose 151,002.
4-wk moving avg -3k to 395,250 in Dec 3 wk, low since April 2 wk. Cont
claims -174k to 3.583m in Nov 26 holiday week, low since the September
20, 2008 week.
