We all know that the first Federal Reserve rate hike, referred to as 'lift-off' is coming. But when?
Good question.
My advice is to watch the data on the US and global economy. Better data = sooner lift off.
We could also listen to what various Fed officials are saying:
- Lacker: Sees Strong Case to Lift Rates in June
- Then again, Dudley says that Weak Data Sets Higher Hurdle for June Rate Hike
- Meanwhile, over on Family Feud: Survey says ... Economists Think Fed Will Wait Until September to Raise Rates
- Powell doesn't know, but whenever they start, they should be gradual
- And Kocherlakota chimes in, predictably, with Fed Shouldn't Raise Rates in 2015
