US trade deficit dips
  • US international trade balance for August 2022 $-67.4 billion vs. $-67.7 billion estimate
  • prior month revised to -70.5B vs. -70.6 billion previously reported
  • goods trade balance $-87.28 billion vs. -$90.19 billion
  • exports were $258.9 billion which were down -0.7 billion vs. July
  • imports came in at $326.3 billion which was $-3.7 billion less than July
  • The August decreasing goods and services reflected a decrease in goods deficit of $3.4 billion to a deficit of $87.6 billion a decrease in the services a surplus of $0.4 billion to $20.2 billion
  • year-to-date goods and services deficit increased $132.3 billion or 24.4% from the same period in 2021.
  • Year-to-date exports increase $329.8 billion or 19.9%. Year-to-date imports increased to $462.1 billion or 21%

The deficit is the lows going back to midyear of 2021.
